Established in 1922
Thika Sports Club has stood as a beacon of elegance and camaraderie for nearly a century. What began as a social haven for colonial European farm owners has evolved into a distinguished institution beloved by a diverse community of sports enthusiasts.
In our storied past, we’ve embraced change and progress while honoring our rich heritage. From humble beginnings south of Thika, we’ve grown to boast an impressive array of facilities including squash, tennis, lawn bowls, and of course, golf.
Our journey towards excellence has been marked by significant milestones. In 1932, we proudly unveiled our initial 8-hole golf course, setting the stage for generations of golfing enthusiasts. By 1973, under the visionary guidance of Danish architect Mr. Troels Ritzou, we inaugurated a breathtaking new clubhouse with a distinct Alpine flair, solidifying our position as a premier destination for social and sporting gatherings.
Speaking of golf, our commitment to the sport reached new heights in 1996 when we expanded our course to a magnificent 18 holes. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Captain John Meru, we joined the elite ranks of clubs with full-fledged championship courses, setting a new standard for sporting excellence.
But Thika Sports Club isn’t just about sports; it’s about creating unforgettable moments and hosting distinguished guests. Over the years, we’ve welcomed luminaries like Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Kenya’s founding father Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, and our esteemed third president, H.E Emilio Mwai Kibaki. Their presence underscores our commitment to excellence and community.
Today, we continue to uphold our legacy as a hub of excellence and inclusivity. Whether you’re an avid golfer, a tennis aficionado, or simply seeking a place to unwind in exquisite surroundings, Thika Sports Club welcomes you to join us in creating timeless memories.
Come experience the allure of Thika Sports Club, where every moment is a celebration of tradition, prestige, and the joy of sportsmanship.
